Start with a real route
Plan the journey from the specific building to work or school. Include the walk to the stop, changes and waiting time.
Check routes and timetables
Check the current route and timetable with RTA before travelling. Test the journey at the time you would normally make it.
Compare your options
Compare public transport, taxis and driving against convenience, journey time and your own budget.
Walk the final stretch
Check crossings, lighting and the route to the stop, particularly if you will be travelling with a child.
Test the whole journey
Suppose the train ride to your office takes 20 minutes. Add the walk from your building, waiting time, connections and the journey from the exit to the office. Repeat the check for a day when you need to collect a child or come home late. If the first or last leg needs a taxi, include it in your budget: a “20-minute metro ride” describes only one part of your journey.
